The Wonders of Washi

Have you discovered washi tape yet? Originating from Japan, the best way to describe washi tape is that it feels like masking tape... But a very pretty version! As it's made from paper washi tape is perfectly versatile; you can write on it and tear it, use it to decorate envelopes, invitations, place names... Or use it to create things like bunting, straw flags or table numbers. We've got lots of eye-catching designs to choose from to suit most themes, but the best thing about this super stylish paper tape isn't just it's looks - it's also very easy to remove and re-apply - so no need to hold your breath when creating! We've got our craft on with some ideas below...

We used our par avion and soft gold paper tape sets to create a very simple but eye-catching table number. Either use complementary ribbon or twine to hang them (this would work great on a balloon centrepiece!) or sturdy holders to stand them up. We suggest using tapes with different but tonal designs...

Straw flags are always a good idea! Quick and easy you just cut and stick - voila! Choose colours to match your theme or worded washi tape to make a statement.

Wrap it around your invitation (or save the date, or thank you card) envelope to make your stationery stand out from the bills and hint at the excitement that lies within! Why not use a mix of tape and ink stamps for a really creative and unique look.

And last but not least, washi tape works wonderfully to jazz up a place name. You can hand-write or stamp your guests names straight onto it, or simply use them as decoration - as seen here (they look super cute with our name badges too). Below we have used them with our Amalfi place cards and lowercase letter stamps pinned with a heart peg...

We hope that this has inspired you to give washi tape a try for your wedding day. If you do then we'd love to see what you create - look forward to hearing from you!
